ALIPLAST™ aluminum profile | ECOWIN Ontario
Aliplast Star90 aluminum windows for high-insulation homes.
Star90 is Aliplast’s super-insulating aluminum window and door system, selected when a project needs slim aluminum design, strong comfort planning and a warm glass package for Canadian weather.
What this profile is for
Aluminum strength with passive-house level insulation planning.
Aliplast positions Star90 as a super-insulating aluminum system for passive-house projects. In practical ECOWIN planning, that means the profile is used where the homeowner wants the clean look of aluminum without treating comfort as an afterthought.
The system can be specified in several insulation levels, including Star 90, Star 90 i, Star 90 i+ and Star 90 P. The right choice depends on window size, glass thickness, colour, hardware, exposure and the installation detail around the opening.
- Modern aluminum windows for premium homes and renovations
- Fixed frames, tilt-and-turn style windows and compatible door applications
- Projects where energy performance, silence and sharp exterior lines matter together
Warm glass package
For Canada, the profile should be matched with a warm two-chamber glass unit.
Two sealed chambers
A two-chamber insulated glass unit usually means three panes of glass with two insulating spaces. This is the warm package ECOWIN discusses for colder Ontario projects when the frame can support the required thickness.
Warm edge spacer
Warm distance frames reduce heat transfer at the edge of the glass compared with older aluminum spacer bars. That helps the window edge feel warmer and can reduce condensation risk when humidity is controlled correctly.
System planning
Profile, glass, spacer, gas fill, hardware and installation must be selected as one system. A strong frame alone does not guarantee comfort if the glass package or install detail is weak.
Technical performance
Star90 is built for demanding aluminum window projects.
Aliplast lists Star90 with strong air, water and wind performance, an example Uw value of 0.80 W/m²K for a tested size and glass configuration, and acoustic performance up to 48 dB. ECOWIN uses these numbers as planning references, then confirms the actual project specification before quoting.
| Frame and sash depth | Outer frame built-in depth 90 mm; sash built-in depth 99 mm. |
|---|---|
| Glazing capacity | Outer frame glazing 12-72 mm; sash glazing 21-81 mm, with variant-specific ranges for Star90 i+ and Star90 P. |
| Weather performance | Airtightness class 4, watertightness E900A and wind resistance C4 in Aliplast’s published data. |
| Security and comfort | RC2 burglary resistance listed for the system; acoustic insulation is listed up to 48 dB. |

Where ECOWIN recommends it
Best for homeowners who want aluminum, not a basic replacement window.
Star90 is a better fit for projects where design and performance are both important: new builds, premium renovations, large glass elevations, dark exterior colours and homes where noise control matters.
- Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville, Niagara and Southern Ontario homes
- Modern black or dark aluminum exterior design
- Warm triple-pane planning with warm edge spacers
- Architectural windows, doors and fixed glass combinations
